Election 2014 SA

In the South African national election on May 7th 2014 the ruling African National Congress, ANC, maintained a comfortable majority of 62 percent. Nevertheless, its share of the poll was the lowest since the first democratic elections in 1994. This was largely due to challenges from the Democratic Alliance, DA, which gained 22 percent of the vote and the Economic Freedom Fighters led by Julius Malema, which gained a little over 6 percent of the vote. These images are of campaigning in Gauteng province, where the three largest parties placed most of their resources. Additional images are of the vote by South Africans living in London
