Robert Resha: 40 years since his death

Robert Resha was an activist, journalist and a member of the African National Congress (ANC). As an activist, he strived for a non-racial, non-sexist, just and democratic South Africa. In the 1940s he was jailed for participating in the Defiance Campaign as a member of the ANC Youth League.

Resha was one of the Treason trialists, but was acquitted in 1961, after which he left the country for Algiers. He became an ANC representative in Algiers. Resha was instrumental in enlightening the international community about the struggle of black South Africans. He died in London on 7 December 1973.
