Oliver Tambo: 100th anniversary of his birth

Oliver Reginald Tambo (27 October 1917 - 24 April 1993) died from a stroke in the early morning hours of 24 April 1993 in Johannesburg, after having recovered from the first one he had suffered in 1989. A graduate of the University of Fort Hare, Tambo founded a law firm with Nelson Mandela. Together they also founded the ANC Youth League along with others such as Anton Lembede and Walter Sisulu. Tambo went on to become the longest standing ANC President serving in that capacity from 1977 to 1991. He went into exile after receiving a banning order in 1959 and returned to South Africa on 13/12/1990.
